What you can expect

This true food tourism experience showcases the importance of sugar in the creation of so many alcohol and food products. More than a just a tour, this journey celebrates the sugar cane pioneers who brought great prosperity to the region through their back-breaking work and mechanical ingenuity. The Sarina Sugar Shed tour is approximately one hour and conclude with tastings of rum and fruit liqueurs products, chutneys, sauces and non-alcoholic ginger beer and freshly spun fairy floss.

From the south (eg. from Rockhampton), turn left into the Field of Dreams Parkland precinct at the first set of traffic lights into Sarina. From the north (eg. from Mackay), drive through Sarina and turn right into the Field of Dreams Parkland precinct at the last set of traffic lights

What To Bring
  • Hats are advised for the outdoor section of the tour
  • Closed footwear is highly recommended for visitor safety
  • Footwear must be worn (no bare feet)
Additional Information
  • Alcohol products can only be consumed by visitors aged 18 and over - ID may be requested
  • Water is provided during the tour, however, visitors are encouraged to bring their own water as there is limited air-conditioning during the tour
  • Dogs are welcome in a designated area of the cafe, with a dog water bowl provided. However, except for assistance dogs, dogs are not allowed on tour or off a leash
  • Many dietary requirements are catered for in the cafe
  • Bookings are highly recommended, especially during holiday periods, as each tour has limited capacity
  • Each tour capacity is from one - 20 participants. Four tours are operated each day (subject to operating conditions such as sufficient staffing)
  • Tours operate in most weather conditions except where there is a safety risk for visitors. Tours may be limited or modified in extreme heat or severe storms. Umbrellas are provided to visitors for general shade and rain protection
  • Accessibility: The venue is flat-surfaced and suitable for almost all accessibility assistance aids. There are various surfaces during the tour, including paved areas, light gravel paths, concrete floors and hardwood floors. There are no steps or stairs at the venue. There is a wheelchair-accessible toilet available
